GAIKER-IK4 is a non profit R&D Centre whose objectives are to carry out research and supply reliable innovative technological solutions which give value to the company, contributing to its technological development and its competitiveness through the generation, gathering, adaptation and transfer of innovative technologies in a sustainable manner. It also assumes the development of opportunities in emerging economic activities, all within a framework of collaboration with other agents.

Role/activity of organisation in the project

GAIKER is the Coordinator of the NANOTHER project. Its role is to manage the organisation and synchronisation of the partners so the scientific outcome is maximized. Also, GAIKER is in charge of many toxicological and efficacy testing in vitro.

Key people involved in the project

Dr. Pedro Heredia is the coordinator of the project. He has managed several national projects with more than ten partners. He carried out his PhD at University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU in Spain and his PostDoc at the Imperial College London. He is expert in protein structure and proteomics and also in in vitro toxicology testing using confocal microscopy and citotoxicity assays.
Dr. Felipe Goñi is in charge of the toxicological studies for NANOTHER project at GAIKER. He carried out his PhD at University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU in Spain. He is expert in flow citometry, confocal microscopy, cell culturing and citotoxicity assays with application to toxicology studies and efficacy testing.
